DAY 3

Fran Fraschilla

Fran Fraschilla is a college basketball analyst for ESPN, and has become synonymous with big games and the Big 12.

A college coach for twenty-three years, Fran holds a .640 winning percentage and eight postseason appearances during his nine years as a head coach. Fran took a break from coaching to broadcast before heading back to the coaching ranks.

That “break” has lasted over two decades.

A native of New York now living in Colorado, Fran and his wife, Meg, have two sons, both following in the family business of coaching basketball: James (Orlando Magic) and Matt (Harvard).

There are so many metaphors between athletics and what happens in life itself: sacrifice, teamwork, hard work, grit, perseverance. And so to me, when I think of playing well, I just think of maximizing your full potential through those. @franfraschilla #theartofplayingwell

I do my homework. @ESPN will never get rid of me because I’ve been a bad guy or a bad teammate or I’m not prepared for a broadcast. They’ll have other reasons, but it won’t be those. @franfraschilla #grit #theartofplayingwell

I’ve had so many great conversations with coaches through the years about getting through tough times. I’ve tried to impart my wisdom, but I’ve gotten it back from them too, many times. It’s a two-way street. @franfraschilla #mentoring #theartofplayingwell
